2020 Meredith (Social) Entrepreneurship Challenge!
Operation C.O.V.I.D.
(Creative Opportunity to Video an Idea and Develop)
The Meredith (Social) Entrepreneurship Challenge (MSEC) is an annual venture idea competition with a special emphasis on societal needs. Student groups compete for a $4,000 grand prize!
With the uncertainty surrounding the remainder of the Spring 2020 semester, the M(S)EC shifted to an all-online format. Semifinalists were encouraged to innovate around this global challenge by submitting a 10-minute video pitch in lieu of the standard Shark Tank Pitch. Operation COVID has 3 rules:
1. No formal videos – pajamas and creativity are encouraged!
2. Students must begin their video with their best joke, and
3. The idea must assess a real opportunity
A combination of women executives, Meredith alumnae with business ownership experience, and friends of Meredith with business ownership experience served as online judges and mentors for the MSEC.
