Throwback Thursday: Telephones

The first telephone installed for all students’ use was in 1919. In the 1920 Oak Leaves, junior Mary Fisher White posed with one of the devices along with the caption:

Mary is bright as her golden hair
And she and W.F. may make “a pair”
Over the phone she loves to talk
Also to cook and do the “cake walk.”
