Like you, we have been eagerly awaiting your return home to campus for Alumnae Reunion Weekend. And like the rest of the world, we are now faced with the implications of a global pandemic. To this end, we have made the difficult decision to postpone this year’s Alumnae Reunion Weekend, including all individual class events.
With Governor Roy Cooper’s most recent executive order extending restrictions in North Carolina through May 15 as well as uncertainties about the availability of hotels and restaurants for the Reunion Weekend, we know this is the best and appropriate decision. If you have already registered for Reunion Weekend, you will receive a full refund on the original debit or credit card used for your registration.
We have not yet selected a new date nor do we know if it will follow the same schedule as previously advertised. Given that each of us will have sacrificed many life events as well as time spent with friends and loved ones, we are certain that everyone will be eager to return to campus for a special celebration that does not require social distancing. In short, this will be a Reunion Weekend you will not want to miss. As soon as we have dates and details available, we will share that via email and with your class agents.
The lyrics to our alma mater have possibly never rung more true than they do today –
We had waited for thy coming in the darkness, waited long,
Ere the morning star proclaimed thy natal day.
When this darkness has passed, please know that Meredith will be waiting, and we look forward to welcoming you home again. In the meantime, we continue to wish good health, strength, hope, and patience to you and your loved ones.
Warm regards,
Hilary Allen, ’01
Director of Alumnae Relations
