It was so hot on move-in day in 1971. No A/C back in those days. The majority of our parents dropped us off and ventured forth throughout Raleigh looking for box fans to set in our dorm windows. We had an unusually large Freshman class that year. Stringfield and Vann were completely full and I ended up all the way across the courtyard on the first floor of Brewer. I got the feeling the sophomores in Brewer felt they had been invaded.
