Meredith Impact Scholarships

Affording a strong college education consistently ranks as a top concern among students applying to college. Meredith College, one of the nation’s top-ranked women’s colleges, is launching a new $20,000 merit scholarship guarantee to help more qualified undergraduate women afford a high quality college education.

Beginning with the Fall 2020 incoming class, Meredith Impact Scholarships will be awarded to all first-year applicants who have a 3.3 unweighted GPA and an 1100 SAT or 22 ACT score. There is no separate application process; the Meredith Impact Scholarships are automatically awarded at the time of admission. This $20,000 scholarship will be renewable annually for up to four years for recipients who maintain good academic standing, allowing families to reduce their 4-year tuition bill by $80,000.

Meredith College President Jo Allen, ’80, says this guarantee demonstrates Meredith’s commitment to helping all women, regardless of their financial backgrounds, develop their strengths and full potential.

“Meredith graduates are known for their work-readiness, ethical leadership style, and  commitment to speaking up for those without a voice,” Allen said. “Impact scholarships will help ensure a Meredith College education is accessible to more women with the power to bring about positive change in their workplaces, communities, and families.”

Matthew Poslusny, provost and senior vice president, says transparency and clarity were also driving forces behind creating the scholarship guarantee.

“Meredith funds more than $26 million in institutional scholarships and grants annually but students and families don’t always know what that will mean for them,” Poslusny said. “This scholarship guarantee makes it clearer up front to high school students who meet the stated academic requirements that their enrollment at Meredith will be met with a minimum of $20,000 from us to help fund their education.”

These new merit scholarships are being partially funded through the money raised during Meredith’s highly successful Beyond Strong fundraising campaign. The Beyond Strong campaign, which ended on December 31, 2018, raised over $90 million — $15 million more than the goal.
