Hurricane Florence Relief Efforts

As noted in President Allen’s email message earlier this week, the Office of Alumnae Relations is currently collecting items to support Hurricane Florence relief efforts.  We know that countless friends, neighbors, and even Meredith alumnae have been, and will continue to be, personally affected by this storm.  Like you, we have kept everyone impacted by Hurricane Florence in our thoughts, and we intend to support ongoing relief efforts.  In doing so, we are currently collecting items that will be donated to the Food Bank of Eastern and Central NC.  The Food Bank will deliver donations directly to those counties impacted by Florence.

A list of needed supplies include:

Toiletries, including dental supplies (shampoo, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, hand sanitizer, etc.)
Blankets and pillows
First Aid items and unopened medicines
High-protein canned meals with pop-top cans (ravioli, soups, spaghetti)
Single-serving meals that do not require refrigeration or cooking/meals ready to eat
Single-serving snacks such as raisins & granola bars
Paper goods and products (paper towels/plates/cups/napkins, plastic utensils)
Diapers (adult and child)

Baby formula
Cleaning supplies and disinfectant wipes, especially bleach
Bottled water
Work gloves, utility and rubber gloves

Tarps
Utility knives and flashlights
Pet Food

Items can be dropped off to the Mae Grimmer Alumnae House on campus.  If you’re not in the area and would like to send supplies via Amazon Prime or another on line service, packages can be addressed to: Office of Alumnae Relations, Meredith College, 3800 Hillsborough Street, Raleigh, NC 27607.  Should you need to drop items off before or after our office closes, please let us know; we’ll be happy to accommodate your schedule.  Questions? Please feel free to contact Hilary Allen, ’01, at allenh@meredith.edu or 919.760.8751.

Thank you in advance for helping our neighbors, friends, and even fellow alumnae that have been impacted by this devastating storm!

Warm regards-

Office of Alumnae Relations
