ARMS Update

Greetings from the Office of Admissions!  It has been a busy, but productive fall semester so far in our office.  Alumnae assisted our recruiters at local and out-of-state college fairs in their territories.  Recently, alumnae brought prospective students to Discover Meredith on October 19 and also e-mailed prospective students last week during our Fall Alumnae Recruitment Focus Week.  Thank you to all the alumnae who have volunteered so far!

Discover Meredith

Alumnae brought 48 students to campus on Saturday, October 19th which was coordinated by the Admissions Office and Hilary Allen and her staff in the Alumnae Office.  The day was filled with excitement and buzz as alumnae brought prospective students to campus!  Current students from each class shared some of their favorite Meredith memorabilia with students and alumnae during the student showcase. Dr. Allen welcomed guests to campus before sending them on a campus traditions tour to learn about some of Meredith’s treasured traditions.  Current students and recent alumnae shared their Meredith experiences and answered questions about campus and academic life during the panel discussion. The day concluded with lunch in Belk Dining Hall with remarks from Andrea Oakley-Fox, Meredith College Alumnae Association President, and Dr. Jackson, VP of College Programs.  We hope these students will return to campus for another event or will schedule an individual campus visit to learn more about Meredith!

Alumnae Recruitment Focus Week

The Fall Alumnae Recruitment Focus Week took place October 28 – November 1.  Alumnae e-mailed prospective high school seniors who had yet to submit their application.  The alumnae shared their Meredith experiences, to include the strength and rigor of our academic programs, and how Meredith helped them reach their personal and professional goals.  Alumnae encouraged students to apply online, schedule an individual campus visit, or attend our last Think Meredith Open House for High School Seniors in January.  Many alumnae have already received positive responses from students who are working on their application!

Alumna Referral

The Office of Admissions would like to utilize alumnae to identify and encourage prospective students to apply to Meredith.  This alumna referral process is for alumnae to identify prospective students who would be a good fit for Meredith.  A student’s application fee will be waived once she is referred by an alumna.  We hope this alumna referral process will generate more applications and encourage students to visit campus.  The form will be created and up on the web in the next few weeks, so stay tuned for updates!
