Danceworks, the largest performance of the year for Meredith’s Dance Program, will be held Friday, April 20 through Sunday, April 22, 2012.
Performances will be held in Jones Auditorium on the following schedule:
Emerging Artists Concert: Friday, April 20 at 8 p.m. and Saturday, April 21 at 3 p.m.
Mainstage Artists Concert: Saturday, April 21 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, April 22 at 3 p.m.
Gala: Sunday, April 22 at 8 p.m.
DanceWorks 2012 will feature three works by Director of Dance Carol Finley, including a tap solo, “Prelude to Settling,” which was recently selected for the National American College Dance Festival performance at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. “Prelude” will be performed on the DanceWorks Gala.
The Emerging Artist Concert features 10 works by students and a work for freshmen by Finley. The Mainstage Artists Concert includes work by Finley, alumnae MK Cranford, ’11 and Natasha Randolph, ’10 and 15 students. The gala performance will be selected from both shows by a panel of alumnae during dress rehearsal. Most of the works are modern with some tap, ballet and hip-hop.
Tickets are free for Meredith students. Public tickets are $10 general admission and $5 students/seniors.
