Meredith students from the 1940s playing basketball in the gym. The temporary building, pictured above, was located on the east side of campus. This building was the predecessor to Weatherspoon Gym which opened much later in September 1970.
Photo of the Week

This photo really brings back memories. This is the gym in which we future teachers in 1962 or ’63 learned how to dance the polka and other P.E. kinds of activities for our future students. But my most vivid memory is matriculation in that room, walking from one table to the next trying to register for classes, sometimes pleading with a professor but most of the time shrugging shoulders and moving on. An organized sort of mayhem. Good old days!
