The Office of Student Leadership and Service and the Major Events Committee are coordinating a service project for the Meredith Community to honor the legacy of leadership and service that Dr. Hartford has brought to our campus. During the month of February, Meredith College will be collecting clothing and financial contributions for Dress for Success and Abbeygail’s Closet, organizations that focus on supporting women in our community. This project will allow the campus to emphasize the importance of women’s leadership and to make an impact on the lives of local women.
The Triangle affiliate of Dress for Success, started by a Meredith alumna, provides disadvantaged women with professional attire and employment assistance. Abbeygail’s Closet is a local thrift store managed by the Women’s Center of Wake County. It is the social enterprise of the organization and exists to fund their programs and services that include assistance to low income and homeless women and children in Wake County.
