Photo of the Week! Another great photograph by Lucy Sanders Hood, who studied art at Meredith around 1910. Note the architectural details of old Meredith’s Main Building. Part of the original campus of Baptist Female University, it was called simply Main Building. A. G. Bauer designed it as well as the Governor’s Mansion, which thankfully is still standing. In fact, the two occupied adjacent blocks downtown. In 1926, when Meredith moved to the present location, Main Building became a hotel, later State government offices, and in 1967, was declared unsafe and demolished. Now it’s a parking lot.
